Windsor Woods Adventure Games - A Fictional Story

By Krissi D. and Maddie L.
Revised by Mrs. Estep

It was December and the school was buzzing with fun activities of the upcoming holidays. The Book Fair and Penguin Patch were bustling, and the Chorus and Strings were preparing to perform.

As the strings finished, the chorus prepared to go on stage. Suddenly, a bad storm erupted, and all of the lights blew up. Everyone screamed and ran around the cafeteria. Mrs.Davidson yelled, “Everyone, be quiet! I hear a monster.” As the kids stopped and listened, they realized the monster was Mr.O snoring to shake the whole school. Maybe it wasn’t the storm that blew out the lights; maybe it was Mr.O.

Then Rebecca  said “Let's yell really loud to wake Mr. O. up! 1, 2, 3, YELL! YELL! YELL!” Mr.O was startled awake and everyone started to laugh.

Now that they figured out there wasn’t a monster, the students needed to figure out what to do about the darkness and the storm. Niki got out her phone and looked through her duffel bag to find her emergency kit. She found pillows, blankets, and other soothing things. Chris said “How many things can fit in that duffel bag, is it an endless bag of stuff?” Niki ignored that question and started to speak. “Okay, here’s the plan.
Step 1 - get everyone quiet and get the adults to look after the little ones.
Step 2 - get as many 4th, 5th, and 6th graders as possible to help out.
Step 3 - go to the power panel and do our best to get the power back on.”

As the older kids headed toward the power panel, a huge blast of wind came rushing through the doors and a huge puff of black smoke came with it. Then the smoke started to speak. “I am Daughter Nature. I am your worst nightmare and all of you will bow down to me!”  Niki got her group all together, “Okay guys, step one and two are accomplished, but now we need to get past her.” So the team fans out to try to get someone around her to the power panel, but Daughter Nature catches them all. “Ohh, trying to escape? You made a huge mistake!”

Daughter Nature summoned all her powers and shook the whole school. Things started to fall everywhere. The team of students escaped and went to the purple hallway. As they gathered, they all looked at one another and said at the exact same time, “It’s the Adventure Games!”

Avis said, “So here is what we are going to do. We are going to use our resources and set booby traps all around the school. Be super careful!” Then Niki  pulled out a key from her pocket, and said, “This is from my emergency kit. It was given to me for this very day.”  Everyone asked her where she got the key and Niki  answered, “I got it from Mr. Ball. So are we going to booby trap this place, or not?”

The group of kids gathered supplies from the art room, music room, library, W.B.S. room, classrooms, and the work rooms. The whole place was booby trapped with books, toy cars, marbles, school supplies and a lot more.

Niki asked, “So, who wants to be a risk-taker and get Daughter Nature out to the booby traps? Oh, and there's one job that I haven’t mentioned yet. Who would like to try to defeat this monster and see who is behind all of this?”

Everyone took a minute to think, but agreed they would all work together as a team. They worked together to create a foolproof plan. First, they decided to have one group of kids act as distractions that would help by leading Daughter Nature toward the booby traps. Once Daughter Nature is caught, guards would make sure that she couldn’t escape. Another group would need to get to the power panel to get the lights on for the whole school. They decided that if anyone got into trouble or needed anything, they would say the code word, “Teamwork!” The kids got into their groups and moved out to conquer Daughter Nature and turn on the lights!

The distraction group came up with a magnificent plan. They made Daughter Nature think that Mother Nature (A.K.A. Daughter Nature’s mother) was there to save the day. Then Daughter Nature followed them.  Their first task was complete and the group did a little celebration. Then something very surprising happened.

Daughter Nature sent a message to all the villains - the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler, and many more - asking them to help take down the school.

As all these villains arrived, they stared right at Niki and she did not know what to do! It was at that moment that the perfect idea came to her.

Niki decided to make an illusion. The kids knocked down the empty shelves in the library and then ran to hide until they could talk to Daughter Nature. But just as Niki broke out of the library, she was caught by a booby trap that Daughter Nature had set!  Luckily, Niki had a special tool in her emergency kit that she could use to cut through the rope. Niki got herself out and said to herself, “Time for all those Taekwondo and Gymnastic lessons to come in handy!”  She flipped off walls and kicked and had a lot of fun. So she put the villains into the booby traps and went to go find the rest of the gang.

Niki found the lights team just as they were hooking up a bike. Their plan was to pedal the bike to power the lights.  After she learned that they had a plan, Niki went to tell everyone else that the lights would be on soon. On her way she passed Daughter Nature. Surprisingly, the evil villain had started to melt! “Well,” she said to herself, “Daughter Nature is made of nature and weather. I guess that makes sense!”

Niki gathered the whole team together so that they could unmask Daughter Nature, but discovered that it wasn’t Daughter Nature that was melting! It was a hologram! Which means that Daughter Nature had escaped! “Quick everyone! Spread out and search!” ordered Niki.

The kids tore the school apart, but all they found were Daughter Nature’s minions. “I have an idea,”  Rebecca says. “Let’s lure the minions to the office, trap them, and guard them. Then a few of us can go search for Daughter Nature and when we find her, we can unmask her and call the cops.”

The kids followed  Rebecca’s directions and as the police cars veered into the school parking lot, everyone came out cheering! The whole thing had turned out to be a team building activity! The adults wanted the kids to join together as a team and work together to save the school! So, instead of a holiday show, the kids had an epic time in the Windsor Woods Adventure Games.
